Maumee is proud to announce its participation in America 250, a nationwide commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Maumee America 250 Committee will mark this historic milestone with a year-long series of events and exhibits starting with a signature kickoff event: Two Lights for Tomorrow on April 18–19, 2025.
Call to Action: Light Up Your Homes & Businesses
Two Lights for Tomorrow is a city-wide illumination event symbolizing hope, unity, and the enduring spirit of Maumee: Residents, businesses, schools, and community groups are invited to take part by lighting up homes, storefronts, landmarks, and public spaces on April 18-19. In addition to turning on lights, other events that are also happening around town include:
• A Special Free Showing of the Musical 1776 at the historic Maumee Indoor Theater o Saturday, April 19th in Theater #2 at 11 a.m., 2:15 & 8:30 p.m.
• A Revolutionary War Artifact Exhibit curated by the Maumee Valley Historical Society & Handcrafted Diorama of the Battle of Lexington & Concord by local historian Dave Westrick o Saturday, April 19th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wolcott House
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring Maumee together in celebration—not only of our national founding but of our local story and the people who continue to shape it. Two Lights for Tomorrow is a powerful start to a year of reflection, creativity, and civic pride. Throughout 2025 and into 2026, the committee will host programs aligned with state and national themes, including museum partnerships, oral history projects, youth engagement activities, and more.
