Total Eclipse of the Towpath
Maumee’s PRE-Eclipse Celebration to take place Ahead of Solar Eclipse
MAUMEE, OH – The Total Eclipse of the Towpath, Maumee’s PRE-Eclipse community event, will take place Sunday, April 7 from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the White Street Parking Lot, located near E. Harrison and White Streets where the Towpath Trail begins.
ProMedica Toledo Hospital Emergency and Urgent Care will sponsor this free, family-friendly celestial event happening along the banks of the Maumee River.
Free solar eclipse glasses will be handed out and children may enjoy eclipse-themed crafts. The event also features live acoustic music, and swag bags courtesy of the Maumee Chamber of Commerce.
Four-legged friends will also receive a special sun and moon bandana. Solar eclipse tee-shirts, designed by FrogTown Tees, will be available to purchase.
Multiple earth-friendly vendors will be on hand to celebrate this historic phenomenon:
- Parting Clouds Yoga – with free demonstrations and information about yoga classes.
- Maumee Garden Club – will pass out sunflower seeds.
- Environmental & Tree Advisory Commission – with information on tree planting.
- Citizens Climate Lobby – with information about environmental facts & policies.
- Toledo Zoo Wild Toledo – with information about native plants in home flower beds.
- Toledo Area Sanitary District – reducing mosquitoes around your home and mosquito control services in Lucas County..
ENJOY PRE-ECLIPSE COMMUNITY YOGA:
Parting Clouds Yoga will present community yoga mini sessions, where individuals of all ages can enjoy deep breathing and relaxation techniques, and basic yoga postures and movements. Registration is not required but is appreciated for these mini-sessions.
