MAUMEE RIVER, Klewer TOWPATH PARK and Riverbend
FISHERY AND ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION Project
April 2026
The City of Maumee is seeking qualified firms to provide planning and design services for projects to restore two sections of the Maumee River in The City of Maumee, OH including (1) Klewer Towpath Park site and (2) Riverbend site (Figures 1 and 2). Our primary interest is ecosystem-based restoration of habitat quality and connectivity of the Maumee River through restoration of connected coastal wetlands and floodplain habitats of the river to enhance fish, wildlife, and other aquatic life at the two sites. This RFP is for engineering and design services for habitat restoration on the two Maumee City owned properties along the Maumee River based upon concept level design plans generated from a Detailed Project Report and Environmental Assessment developed by USACE as part of a Section 506 (GLFER) project entitled “Klewer Towpath Park and Maumee River Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration”. The selected consulting firm will develop engineering and design plans for both sites (Klewer Towpath Park and Riverbend) identified in the USACE feasibility study and be the prime vendor indicated in the package, rather than a team of firms, with an understanding that a subset of services may necessitate the inclusion of subcontractors. Successful applicants will work with a project team that consists of the City of Maumee, NOAA, Ohio DNR, USACE, the Great Lakes Fishery Commission and City of Maumee Schools.
