Ted Kurt

Ted Kurt was elected to his first term on Maumee City Council in November 2023.  He was officially sworn into office on January 1, 2024, to fulfill his term, which expires December 31, 2027.  He currently serves on the Parks and Recreation Committee.

Ted and his wife Mary have been Maumee residents since 2008; they have two children and three grandchildren.

Ted received degrees from the University of Toledo College of Business and the University of Toledo College of Law. His first job after law school was that of magistrate in the Lucas County Domestic Relations Court. 

Ted’s interest in healthcare administration led him to the position of administrative director at the Mercy Hospital family practice residency program where he developed in-house legal departments at both Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center and Mercy Health Saint Charles Hospital.  

Throughout his career, Ted’s bar admissions have included the Ohio Supreme Court, the United States District Court, the Michigan Bar, and the United States Supreme Court.

When his kids were young, he volunteered with his son’s Boy Scout activities and his daughter’s YMCA Indian Princess activities. Currently he serves as a coach for the Mock Trial program at Perrysburg High School.

He has served on three institutional review boards, which are FDA-mandated functions that assure the safety and welfare of clinical trial protocols are maintained. Those include the former Medical College of Ohio, Bon Secours Mercy Health System, and the University of Michigan Medical School.
