Andrew Huyghe

Andrew Huyghe was appointed to the Council on January 5, 2026. He is filling the seat won by Chelsea Ziss in the November 4 election, which she did not assume after being appointed mayor shortly thereafter. The term runs through December 31, 2029, with the understanding that he will need to run in the November 2026 election to retain the seat.

Andrew has called Maumee home since 2008. A father of two, he and his wife, Bess, can most likely be found at one of the local soccer or softball fields cheering on their daughter or at an area theater taking in one of their son’s theatrical performances.

Andrew has two degrees from Bowling Green State University where he majored in Education and Business, and minored in Political Science and History.  Professionally, Andrew has served nearly 20 years as a data analyst in both the private and public sectors, currently working in the higher education industry.

Andrew’s interest in political science and the desire to give back led to his decision to serve the Maumee community. He is optimistic about Maumee’s future and looks forward to being a part of the decisions that will make a lasting positive impact.
