The Maumee Fire Division is proud to announce we have maintained our Class 3 rating from the ISO (Insurance Services Organization). This rating places our fire department not only in the top 15% of the State of Ohio, but also in the top 15% in the country. Our most recent evaluation was completed in January 2025.
The independent ISO rating system is the nation’s preeminent indicator of a Fire Departments effectiveness and rigorously examines fire departments on multiple factors. These include equipment, staffing, training, city water supplies, operations including dispatch effectiveness, water supplies, fire department staffing, fire inspections, community risk reduction, and emergency 911 communications. Our Class 3 rating confirms the City of Maumee’s commitment to providing superior service, quick response times, and comprehensive risk reduction strategies.
Our Class 3 rating maintains a positive impact for home and business owners, as lower scores may have an impact on their policies. A low ISO rating often translates to lower insurance rates, which can result in substantial savings for property owners. Class 1 represents superior property fire protection capability, and Class 10 would indicate the fire suppression program does not meet ISO’s minimum criteria. Insurance companies then use this ISO rating for underwriting and calculating premiums for residential, commercial and industrial properties. ISO is the leading supplier of data and analytics for the property/casualty insurance industry.
