
Appointment Information- Maumee City Council
Maumee City Council is seeking qualified, interested residents to fill the seat vacated by Scott Noonan, who resigned from the council on July 22, 2025.
Vacated Seat Election Requirements: The individual appointed to fill Scott Noonan’s vacated council seat will be required to run in the November 2026 General Election to retain the seat. Additionally, the appointee must run again in the November 2027 General Election for a full four-year term, as that is when the current term officially expires.
Appointment Guidelines: Maumee City Council will establish the process of filling the vacant seat during its meeting on August 11, 2025, at 6:15 PM. Following that, Council will vote to select a replacement candidate.
If no appointment is made at that meeting, council may then try to appoint a replacement candidate on August 18, 2025, at 615 PM.
If the City Council has not appointed a replacement by August 21, 2025, the Mayor will choose the individual to fill the seat.
Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the council position:
- Resident of Maumee for at least two years prior to appointment.
- Registered voter in the city of Maumee for at least two years prior to appointment.
- Submit a letter of interest and résumé via email to citycouncil@maumee.org or give it directly to any of the remaining council members.
About Scott Noonan: Mr. Noonan was appointed to Maumee City Council in December 2017 and was elected to his first term in 2019. In 2023, he was re-elected to his current term, which expires on December 31, 2027. He also served as Chairman of the Personnel Committee.
