In honor of the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Maumee ADA Advisory Commission has launched a public service message, urging residents and businesses to keep sidewalks clear and accessible for all members of the community.
The ADA, signed into law on July 26, 1990, prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including transportation, employment, and public spaces. The commission encourages residents to take simple actions, such as avoiding parking over sidewalks, and to be mindful of everyone who relies on safe, unobstructed pathways.
