About the Film
Juneteenth: Faith & Freedom explores the history and enduring significance of Juneteenth, the holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in Texas in 1865. Featuring interviews with historians, community organizers, church leaders, and descendants of the formerly enslaved, the film examines how Christianity was used both to justify slavery and to inspire resistance and healing. It offers a moving exploration of the spiritual foundation that helped sustain a people on the path to freedom.
