The Maumee Civil Service Commission announces an open non-competitive examination for 3 positions of entry and lateral police officer positions for the City of Maumee, Ohio. A police officer enforces the laws and performs related tasks to preserve the safety and security of the city and its citizens. Purpose of this examination is to establish an eligibility list for police officer in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Maumee Civil Service Commission.
Age requirement: Applicants shall be at least 21 years of age at appointment (applicants who are currently (20) should apply) and less than 45 years of age on November 6, 2023.
Education: Must have an associate degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university. The minimum equivalent is 90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours. College transcripts must be provided with the application. Must be able to obtain Ohio Peace Officer training Academy certificate. Applicants who are not OPOTA certified may be considered for an opportunity to have their Academy tuition paid for by the city to attend the Academy with an employment offer.
Eligibility list: After the list is established, eligible candidates are certified by the appointing authority to fill any vacancy or vacancies. Each appointment shall be subject to successfully passing a physical examination, including drug screening and a psychological assessment conducted by consultants of the City’s choice. The City will pay cost of all such testing.
Salary: The current annual salary range for Patrol Officer is $62,860 – $79,976.

New employees will be required to serve a probationary period while in the field training officer program and for a period of 260 8-hour actual workdays following completion of the program. An individual who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for the position.
The Maumee Police Division offers full testing services for the position of police officer through National Testing Network, Inc., at a cost of $55.00 to each candidate. Upon completion of the lateral/entry level exam, all candidate scores are automatically forwarded to City of Maumee. Candidates who attain a passing score on the lateral/entry level exam, have submitted all required paperwork and meet the minimum qualifications, will be placed on the City of Maumee Patrol Officer Civil Service eligibility list. The Maumee Police Division will contact candidates on the list and will invite them to continue to participate in other stages of the department selection process.
