Probation Division
The Maumee Municipal Court Probation Division was established in April of 2003. Currently, there are four full-time probation officers on staff. In 2007, there were approximately 2,800 people under some level of probation supervision.

The Probation Division works with defendants during pretrial and after sentencing when placed on probation.  During pretrial and as a condition of bond, defendants may be ordered to participate in domestic violence counseling or anger management counseling.  Both of these programs are held at the Maumee Municipal Building.  A defendant might also be placed in the Women's Life Skills Program, which is facilitated by a psychologist and held in Perrysburg.  Also, as a condition of bond a defendant might be ordered to wear a SCRAM bracelet that continuously monitors the consumption of alcohol, or to submit to drug testing.  Defendants may be ordered to complete community service work hours, to complete an alternatives program (drug and alcohol or theft), or to wear a GPS (Global Positioning System) tracking unit, which monitors the defendant's location at all times.

Once sentenced and placed on probation, there are numerous conditions to which a defendant may be sentenced.  In addition to the pretrial conditions cited above, a defendant could be ordered to:  drug and alcohol treatment (including a 28-day inpatient program), a 72-hour Driver's Intervention Program, a Victim Impact Panel Program, attend AA meetings, participate in mental health counseling, complete parenting classes, obtain a GED/diploma, maintain employment, obtain a valid driver's license, or to be placed on intensive supervision probation.
