LETTER FROM THE MAYOR
Whether you live in Maumee, work in Maumee, or are visiting Maumee, you are sure to recognize the pride we have in our community.
In our Arrowhead Park business district you will find beautiful landscaping with mounding and plenty of trees together with buildings set back allowing nature to flourish.
You will also find well maintained streets with an abundance of trees along them, not only in our business districts, but in our residential neighborhoods as well.
Visit Rolf Park, which throughout the summer hosts local, state and even national events in both soccer and softball. While you are there, enjoy the pool with waterfalls, slides and much more, or take a walk along the path outlining the park. You may also enjoy Side Cut Metro Park or take a leisurely stroll on the historic towpath along the Maumee River. Or, take in our historic Wolcott Museum, which reflects the history of Maumee back to our Native American settlers.
Our historic Maumee Indoor Theater was completely renovated to its historic past and is a great place to bring your family. Wednesdays are special with $2.00 movies!
Maumee’s population is just under 15,000; but, we have nearly 30,000 people earning paychecks in our City. The lowest income tax rate in our area, a strong police presence, efficient public service maintaining our community, and a Volunteer Fire Department with the very best equipment and training, along with a City administrative “business friendly” approach, continues to attract new businesses to Maumee. We also retain businesses in Maumee, and many have been here for generations.
While in Maumee, you will find people running or walking at all times of the day and night. We pride ourselves in being a safe community. We also have Maumee Churches United, where all Maumee clergy come together regularly and have events for all denominations.
Our annual Holiday Hustle 5K evening run in the dark followed by a parade in the dark with lighted floats is a family favorite every Thanksgiving and our July 4th Fireworks display attracts tens of thousands of people to our main street each year.
Maumee is 175 years young! And, we look darn good for our age! Our Municipal Building, Police Headquarters, Fire Station and Service Building are all state-of-the-art facilities, which reflect the pride our residents have in our City services. Residents, businesses, visitors – you will always feel welcome in our beautiful river valley. We are Maumee!
